Game 7: Winnipeg Jets 4 Detroit Red Wings 1 post-game recap

Recap, highlights and post-game interviews.

Jets pick up their third straight win as they defeat the Wings 4-1 to kick off road trip with a win as they improve to 4-3-0 on the season.

Notable:

Elite vision by Cole Perfetti set up Nikolaj Ehlers to score his first goal of the season which was the 399th point (177G 222A) of his NHL career to open the scoring in his game.

In his home state Kyle Connor continued his hot streak as he scored his fifth goal of the season in his seventh game. Last season he had two goals in his first 18 contests. He’s currently on a 60 goal pace.

His goal turned out to be the game-winning goal which is the second straight game for him and 44th of his career (puts him second on the Jets trailing just Mark Scheifele who has 45 GWGs).

Speaking of strong starts to the season, the Jets 6th rounder from 2015 Mason Appleton scored the third goal of this contest which is impressive beginning to the season for the Wisconsin product. Not too shabby when you compare this year with last:

7GP 3G (2023-24)
41GP 5G (2022-23)

Also scoring his first of the season was Nino Niederreiter who deserved it after making some big blocks for Winnipeg earlier in the game.

The Jets stayed disciplined which was important as the Wings power play was clicking at over 40% (1st in the NHL) and they managed to shut down Detroit on the two chances they had this game.

Another solid night for top netminder Connor Hellebuyck who played a strong game in front of family and friends making 35 saves on 36 shots.

Multi Point Game:
