Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets lost not just the game on the night Pierre-Luc Dubois returned to the capital but they also may have lost prized winger Gabriel Vilardi who was injured in the 1st period and was ruled out for the remaining of the game, which the Jets lost 5-1. We may get an update today following practice which starts at 12 noon. Stay tuned for the Jets Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose hit the ice for a practice on Tuesday although they would have two fewer players today as they assigned the pair of forwards to Norfolk of the ECHL. Manitoba is back on the ice this morning at hockey for all centre as they prepare to face the Wild on the weekend. Might they have lose someone to the Jets to compensate the NHL club of Winnipeg for the absence of Gabriel Vilardi. They will practice at 10:30 AM so check back for the Moose Practice Report.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Dubois scores in return as Kings rout Jets. Couldn’t have been scripted any better (if you are a Kings fan that is).

Winnipeg Sun: Jets can’t handle bigger Kings, Hellebuyck’s .843 save percentage not good enough, Morrissey still driving offence. Ted hands how his letter grades for last night’s contest.

Winnipeg Free Press: Kings crush Jets in more ways than one. (Paywall). Mike gives you his assessment from last night’s game.

Winnipeg Free Press: Dubois bears no grudges, has no regrets. (Paywall). No sure what grudge he would have against an organization that paid him millions of dollars and wanted to pay him millions more to stay.

The Athletic Winnipeg: With PL Dubois Winnipeg return behind them, the Jets should still feel good about what they’ve got. (Paywall). While you may be feeling down Murat says ‘not so quick’. Check out his latest here.

Global News: Dubois scores, Vilardi injured as Kings crush Jets 5-1. Literal insult to injury although if you’re a Jets fan the silver lining, of sorts, was that the former Jet didn’t score the game-winning goal.

Los Angeles Times: Cam Talbot, Trevor Moore carry Kings to first win of season, beat Jets. Normally I reference this as an opportunity to read how visiting media saw the game but this was written by the AP which means it was likely written by Judy Owen who is a Manitoban. She is an excellent writer so give it a read.

Jets video:

TSN: Dubois scores against his former team, as Kings grab first win of the year. Pierre-Luc Dubois wasted no time making his return felt, as he scored the first goal of the game against his former team. Martin Biron joins SportsCentre to discuss Dubois’ return and where Winnipeg went wrong on Tuesday night.
