Note: We are now in the quiet stretch of time which silence may be broken with news of a signing of the remaining RFAs (Vlardi, Barron, Stanley & Chisholm) as well as a potential free agent or two. We did learn courtesy of the NHLPA the arbitration dates scheduled for Gabe Vilari and Morgan Barron.
Note II: I will be chatting with “new” Moose forward CJ Suess today and our chat will be posted on here and on our Illegal Curve YouTube page.
Jets news:
The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets prospect deep dive: How do the top 5 players in Winnipeg’s system stack up? (Paywall). An interesting assessment and another good read from Murat.
Winnipeg Sun: Mission impossible? Jets’ blockbuster summer hits snag with Hellebuyck, Scheifele. Sure feels like this movie won’t have a Part III or IV this summer.
northeastNow: Melfort Mustangs alum attends Jets and Flyers development camps. Sometimes the most interesting development camp stories are the unexpected ones. When a fourth goalie magically appeared last week in Winnipeg there was some confusion as to why Noah Giesbrecht was suddenly in attendance when the previous days had been Winnipeg goalie prospects Logan Neaton, Thomas Milic and Dominic DiVincentis. Now we know the answer.
NHL.com: Dubois excited for opportunity to ‘fully be me’ with Kings. Obviously he never drove from River Heights to Transcona cause even in Winnipeg you can “drive 30 minutes and it feels like you’re completely in a different area”. Looks like the former Jets forward is on the ‘fix his reputation’ tour.
Jets video:
Daily Faceoff: Offseason updates on the Jets. Tyler Yaremchuk asks Frank Seravalli for an update on the Jets and specifically about Connor Hellebuyck and Mark Scheifele. Nothing really new here other than the facts are things remain quiet around the two Winnipeg players. Starts at the 1:34 mark.
The Rink Live: Chat with Jets Dman Nate Schmidt. The Minnesotan spoke about being a new dad, being a mentor at this point in his career, making an impact on his St. Cloud community and importance of taking care of your mental health.
Jets audio:
680 CJOB: Jets @ Noon. The Athletics’ Murat Ates pops on the program to look back at Jets Development Camp and look at the club’s options with the cap. Can the Jets keep pending UFAs short-term with the NHL cap crunch?
