Veteran Jets forward Sam Gagner has had to reinvent himself during his NHL career from a sixth overall selection by the Oilers in 2007 to a guy who spent some time in the minors and then back up in the best league in the world.
This year he played in his 1000th game in the NHL.
He was just named the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy nominee for Winnipeg. The award is given to the player who “best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship, dedication to hockey”.
It was announced on March 16th that he had had hip surgery and was done for the season.
