Game 57: Jets vs Rangers pre-game report

A look at the projected lineups and pre-game interviews.

The Jets looked like they were gonna pick up a big win on Sunday night against the Devils but hockey is a 60 minute game not 40 minutes and a 2-1 lead after two periods became a 4-2 loss by the final buzzer.

The team also lost Nikolaj Ehlers in the 3rd period after he was knocked to the ice and his head connected with it. There wasn’t an update from head coach Rick Bowness after the game.

Skate news:

As per Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet the update from NYC is that Connor Hellebuyck starts in net. He also indicated that head coach Rick Bowness said that Nikolaj Ehlers is fine and that Cole Perfetti is out with an injury. Sam Gagner comes into the lineup. He also said that Logan Stanley will play tonight but didn’t indicate who will come out.

Warm-up skate:

According to Ken Wiebe it will be Dylan Samberg coming out for Logan Stanley. Also the lines have been adjusted from the last game.

Jets projected lines & D pairs:

Connor-Scheifele-Appleton
Ehlers-Dubois-Wheeler
Barron-Lowry-Gagner
Maenalanen-Stenlund-Kuhlman

Morrissey-DeMelo
Dillon-Pionk
Stanley-Schmidt

Hellebuyck
Rittich

Betway Odds:

Before the  Rangers lost in OT to the Flames in Calgary they had won seven straight games. These Blueshirts are cooking right now although despite that success they are 3rd in the Metro Division behind the Devils and Hurricanes. They are 16-9-4 at MSG with a +39 goal differential.
