During the 2nd intermission of game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final during the Saturday Headlines David Amber asked Elliotte Friedman the latest on Barry Trotz:
“Barry Trotz is going to meet with Winnipeg next week and we’re expecting some clarity in some other situations. First of all Edmonton, Jay Woodcroft they’re working towards and it’s expected it’s going to get there, Dallas if it’s Pete DeBoer I think we’re gonna know in the next couple of days. Also, Florida there seems to be some optimism that that is going to work out with Andrew Brunette but we’ll see for sure.”
There seemed to be a lack of clarity as to whether the Jets and Trotz met this weekend and are also meeting next week or if the second meeting between the two sides is taking place next week. Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press clarified with a tweet this evening:
“The Jets follow-up interview with Barry Trotz has been pushed back to early this coming week. Was originally planned for this weekend. But it’s still happening, and mutual interest remains high. We’ll see where it goes.”
So it seems like the musical chairs of coaching options could be minus two more chairs (Dallas & Florida) shortly leaving just Winnipeg, Detroit and maybe Boston as options if Barry Trotz wants to coach again next season.
