Note: This is day 41 since the NHL and AHL hit the pause button on their respective 2019-20 seasons.
Note II: Jets forward Andrew Copp will be the latest player to participate on a video conference call. He will chat this morning at 10 AM and I will be on the call and will have it posted on site once it becomes available. Update: Check out the full call here.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets Copp fit, tanned and ready to roll if the NHL returns. Scott recaps today’s chat with the Michigan born forward.
Winnipeg Free Press: Copp hoping to stay sharp by staying active, watching film. (Paywall). If there is one player that you shouldn’t be surprised is staying ready to go it would be number nine. Mike has more from today’s conference call.
The Athletic Winnipeg: The day I got a glimpse of the real Dustin Byfuglien. (Paywall – 90 day free option). Good timing by Kenny considering today is the five year anniversary of this memorable clip.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Winnipeg Jets fan survey’s results show as much passion as ever. (Paywall – 90 day free option). As Maury Povich would say on his talk show “The results are in”. Murat walks you through the results of over 800 fan responses.
NBC Sports: Andrew Ladd and Kris Versteeg weigh in on Dustin Byfuglien’s NHL future. I think the most surprising thing to come out of this article is that Dustin Byfuglien uses zoom.
Sportsnet: Three potential destinations for Dustin Byfuglien, if he decides to return. I believe this quote from Forgetting Sarah Marshall sums this up best “It’s like the Sopranos. It’s over.” But that is simply my opinion. The author feels that the Leafs, Wild and Panthers could all be possibilities. I would add if you think 33 would play in Toronto then you haven’t been paying attention (and that isn’t to be misconstrued as a shot at the city). Would certainly ratchet up the Friendly Manitoba vs Minnesota Nice battles.
Illegal Curve: A look at where Dustin Byfuglien ranks in the Winnipeg Jets/Atlanta Thrashers record books. Not much of a surprise that Dustin Byfuglien is in the top 10 for quite a few records.
Moose news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets have no worries about lead farmhand. (Paywall). The purpose of the minors is development and pushing players to the next level. Moose bench boss Pascal Vincent has certainly been able to assist players reach their potential in the AHL.
Winnipeg Free Press: Prospect talk. (Paywall). Mike gets an assessment of Jansen Harkins, Mikhail Berdin, Leon Gawanke, Kristian Reichel, Logan Stanley and Kristian Vesalainen
