Game 39: Jets 4 Oilers 3 post-game recap

Post-game from the Jets dressing room as well as from Coach Maurice.

The Jets conclude 2018 by ending their two game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Oilers. They improve to 25-12-2 this season and will wrap up 2018 atop the Western Conference.

Notable:

– Brandon Tanev (celebrating his bday) scored to tie the game;
– That was Tanev’s eighth goal of the season (in 39 games) which equals how many he had in all of last season;
– Blake Wheeler scored his sixth goal of the season (first goal in 10 games);
– That goal for Wheeler combined with his 44 assists gives him 50 points on the season (leads the team);
– Brendan Lemieux scored twice to double his goal total on the season;
– It was the first time in his career that Lemieux has scored twice in the NHL;
– Lemieux (2G) and Andrew Copp (2A) were the only Jets with multiple points;
– Connor Hellebuyck picked up the 100th win of his NHL career;
– Hellebuyck tied Ryan Miller to become the fourth fastest goalie to reach 100 wins (in 179 games).

According to NHL Public Relations the Jets reached 25 wins in 39 games which is the fewest games they have required to acheive that mark (previous best was 43 games played last season).
