After Friday’s arbitration hearing, Jacob Trouba has been awarded a one year, $5.5 million dollar contract with the Winnipeg Jets. Entering the hearing, the Winnipeg Jets had requested a one year contract worth $4.0 million, while Trouba and his representatives had requested a one year contract worth $7.0 million. Following the conclusion of this one year contract, Jacob Trouba will remain a Restricted Free Agent, one year away from unrestricted free agency.

Trouba was selected by the Jets back in the first round (9th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in Pittsburgh.

He has played 326 games since he turned pro back in 2013-14 putting up 34 goals and 95 assists for 129 points. He has also formed a healthy partnership playing alongside Joshua Morrissey on the Winnipeg Jets blueline.

Update:  Jets confirmed on the 25th that “Trouba’s contract for $5.5 million for the 2018-19 season has been signed by both Trouba and the team, and has been submitted to the NHL.”.
