Stanley Cup Playoffs Round 3 Game 4: Golden Knights 3 Jets 2 recap

A recap of Game 4.

Just 2:25 into this one the Jets gave up the first goal of the game as William Karlsson scored on a questionable power play opportunity called against Tyler Myers.  The rest of the opening period didn’t see much in the way of flow and the home side closed out the first 20 minutes with a 1-0 lead and being slightly outshot by the visitors 10-9.

Midway through the middle frame the Jets tied things up on the power play as Patrik Laine made no mistake off a beauty pass by Dustin Byfuglien.  As we’ve seen the last three games however the Golden Knight struck as Tomas Nosek helped regain the lead for Vegas with the Jets doing who knows what on the play.  Shots again favoured the Jets 15-13.

Just over five minutes into the Tyler Myers scored a goal that nobody saw to tie the game up at 2.  Eight minutes later Reilly Smith shoot a knuckler that handcuffed Connor Hellebuyck and beat the Jets netminder up and under the bar to give the Golden Knights a 3-2 lead late in the 3rd (6:58 left).  The Jets pressed but never really came close to getting the equalizer in this one and ultimately lost game four.

Winnipeg find themselves down 3-1 in the series and are now one game away from elimination.
