Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets were originally scheduled to practice but with another win last night the team has cancelled today’s skate.  They will hit the ice tomorrow at 11 am before departing on the final road trip of the season.

Note II:  The Moose finished their three game road trip last night in San Jose and will travel back to Winnipeg as they get ready for the final home stand of the season.  They began the trip with a win in Bakersfield but dropped the back-to-back games this weekend against San Jose.  They kick off this week with four games starting Tuesday night against the Griffons.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Wheeler not interested in numbersNot many players are looking for silver linings when there are still games to play, especially when the season has gone the way it has for Winnipeg.  Ken also writes about Scheifele’s game, injury updates and goes around the glass.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets’ streak too little, too late.  Fans who pay the big bucks to sit in the MTS Centre aren’t upset to see the home team pile up a couple more wins before they head into another long summer.

Winnipeg Sun:  Tyler Myers trying to make it back before end of season.  Sounds like it would be more about the mental boost considering the way the past seven months have gone.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets push win streak to four.  (Paywall).  Mike recaps the action from the fourth straight Jets come from behind victory.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Myers hoping to get in a game before season ends for Jets.  (Paywall).  We discussed his return on Saturday morning’s IC Hockey Show and I didn’t think he would play again this season but it appears he could possibly get into one or two games to close out the season.

Ottawa Citizen:  It’s no joke, Senators’ skid continues with a loss in Winnipeg.  The skid continues for the team from our nation’s capital.  Read about the game from a beat writer that covers the Jets opposition last night.

Globe and Mail:  Jets win fourth in a row, 4-2 over Senators, who lose fourth in a row.  With the way these two teams are going you’d think the Jets are heading to the playoffs while the Senators are planning their golf trips.  Judy recaps the action from the MTS Centre.

Illegal Curve:  Paul Postma to have hernia surgery (on both sides).  We finally get the news we’ve been expecting for a little while now.
