Friedman says this is about where does he think he can win (not sunlight or taxes) which is consistent with what we’ve been saying. He reiterates the points he made on NHL Network last week that a lot of teams don’t have the necessary pieces or trade protection is now in effect. Said the Jets “have to do well” but said there is a recognition that this “has to happen and is going to happen”. Said biggest challenge for Winnipeg is they “couldn’t go back in time” and a deal has to get done.
Asked if there is a possibility they go for futures and Friedman said (to the surprise of nobody) that they do not.
Teams of interest: Buffalo, Utah, Carolina and said he’s gotten mixed messaging on New Jersey. Adds there may be teams that he’s hasn’t considered.
