In his latest 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman wrote points 6 to 9 on Winnipeg.
He suggests the Jets’ claim of Clay Stevenson could reshape the Connor Hellebuyck trade talks if the former Capitals goalie proves he can be a legitimate NHL option. That could lessen Winnipeg’s need to acquire a goalie in any return, which Friedman says has complicated potential deals.

Friedman also identifies Carolina as the most motivated current pursuer, with the Hurricanes potentially exploring a three-way framework involving defenceman Alexander Nikishin. He adds that Buffalo was the closest to getting a deal done and that Hellebuyck wants a resolution, but the Jets are determined not to make a trade that could create bigger problems down the road.
