From Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune:

The Blackhawks announced Thursday that defenseman James Wisniewski has torn the ACL in his right knee and will undergo surgery this week.

The 24-year-old defenseman injured his knee training for the upcoming season and is expected to return sometime during the season.

Tough news for the Hawks. Wisniewski has already torn his ACL on one occasion, so this has to be devastating news for him. The youngster came into his own last season for the Blackhawks and added some sandpaper to the team’s blueline. Considering his past injuries, I would be surprised if he returned to the line up before February.
