Winnipeg Jets with back-to-back wins as they defeat Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 to improve to 17-3-0

The Jets go back-to-back with wins as they start off their longest and hardest road trip of the season with a 4-1 win over the Penguins to improve to 17-3-0 on the season.

Notable:

Milestone game for Mason Appleton who plays his 300th as a member of the Jets. His 349th overall including his brief time with Seattle. Not bad for the 2015 6th rounder.

Shots were 7-0 for the Jets over the Pens six minutes and 34 seconds into the opening period and they held a 1-0 lead courtesy of Nino Niederreiter’s eighth goal of the season. That’s a 32 goal pace. Not too shabby.

With the Jets only up a goal they really needed one to give them some cushion and they got that courtesy of birthday boy Vlad Namestnikov who makes it 2-0 for the Jets five minutes into the 2nd.

The top power play in the NHL strikes as Gabriel Vilardi made it 3-0 for the Jets. Play the Macarena as 13 now has 8 goals on the season.

Kyle Connor and Sidney Crosby dropping the gloves in a tilt. That was unexpected. 81 can say goodbye to that Lady Byng.

Looked like the Jets were in cruise control but a phantom penalty call on Alex Iafallo had him in the box when Michael Bunting broke the shutout bid about six minutes into the 3rd period.

The Jets grinded out the rest of the game and start off the road trip with a win over the Penguins. They are now 10-0-0 when scoring first.
