Winnipeg Jets trade Nelson Nogier to the L.A. Kings for Markus Phillips

Nelson Nogier has been a very good soldier for the Jets organization since he was drafted out of the WHL back in the 4th round of the 2014 NHL Draft. The right shot defenceman got into 11 games with Winnipeg but spent the majority of his pro career in the AHL with the Moose.

The Kings sent back left shot defenceman Markus Phillips who has five points (1G, 4A) in 38 AHL games this season with the Ontario Reign.

It has not been an easy 2021-22 season for Nogier who has been limited to 25 games with Manitoba as a result of the organization wanting to play younger prospects and get them experience. However he has been effective playing both forward and defence including his first ever two goal game. His three goals this season represent the most he has scored in an AHL season.

It is going to be very odd to cover a Moose game and not see Nogier either on the ice or in the pressbox. The Saskatoon product was extremely well liked by his teammates and was really easy to deal with from a media perspective. Class act.
