Winnipeg Jets to host the Montreal Canadiens in a Heritage Classic next October

Back on October 19th Elliotte Friedman was on Saturday Headlines and indicated “Winnipeg is going to be a serious contender to host it”. The it he was referencing was the Heritage Classic.

The Jets have been involved twice before once when they hosted the Oilers back in 2016 and then in a neutral site game in Regina in 2019 against the Flames.

According to the NHL website (you can fill out this form for ticket info) the game will be between the Jets and Habs in Winnipeg on October 25th, 2026. (Update: Appears the link has been disabled so perhaps this news has been released early). Here is a screen shot showing the release:

This would be the first one in seven seasons for Winnipeg and of course ten years after hosting the first one. For the Habs I believe it will be their first once since they took on the Senators in the NHL 100 Classic back in 2017.

Now the question becomes what will the jerseys look like??
