Winnipeg Jets surge continues with OT win over Hawks, move within one of playoff spot

With the win the Jets leapfrog the Kraken and Sharks hitting the 76 point mark which ties them with the Kings and puts them just one point back of the wild card spot held by the Predators with 77. Just wild.

Notable:

The Hawks were the quicker team in the opening 20 minutes and were rewarded for their effort with a 1-0 lead.

But the Jets changed in the middle frame started by Josh Morrissey who got his team back into the game with his 13th of the season. Mark Scheifele picks up his 56th assist of the season which gets him to the 90 point mark for the first time in his career.

Kinda sensed that Cole Perfetti was due for a goal in that 2nd period as he had plenty of good looks. He finished off this great sauce by Alex Iafallo to give the Jets a 2-1 lead against the stingiest PK in the NHL. Scheifele up to 91 points. Remains on pace for 100.

First NHL point for Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin who does some good work before Isak Rosén buried his second as a Jet and fifth of the season.

While Winnipeg didn’t give up much in the middle frame holding Chicago to just two shots, the home team did manage to score on one them to cut the deficit to 3-2 after 40.

And it was all Hawks to start the 3rd as they outshot the Jets 5-1 to start which also included the home team tying the game as they caught both Neal Pionk and Dylan DeMelo out of position and Connor Hellebuyck unaware.

The Jets win 4-3 in OT as 55 gets it to 81 who makes no mistake. The victory leapfrogs them over the Kraken and Sharks hitting the 76 point mark which ties them with the Kings and puts them just one point back of the wild card spot.
