Another RFA for the Jets comes off the board as Winnipeg announced this afternoon they’ve signed Ville Heinola to a two-year contract extension.

It has an AAV in the NHL of $800,000.00.
Heinola had a frustrating 2023-24 campaign as he looked like a guy who had secured himself a spot out of training camp but an ankle injury in a pre-season game against the Senators required surgery and cost him months of the year rehabbing. When he was back skating he spent the entirety of the season in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose. In 41 games he had 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points.
That won’t be an issue this year as the 2019 1st rounder losses his waiver exemption and would have to clear waivers if Winnipeg wanted to send him down.
That leaves just Cole Perfetti and Simon Lundmark as the remaining RFAs requiring a new contract.
He's closing in on his first game since January 13th.
The 2024 2nd rounder is in Winnipeg where he'll spend the rest of the season…
