After his frequent D partner and fellow 2019 draftee Ville Heinola got a new two-year contract the other remaining RFA defenceman, Simon Lundmark has a new deal with the team that drafted him 51st overall in Vancouver.
Today the Jets announced they have signed Lundmark to a one-year, two way extension. The AAV is $775,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 at the AHL level. Lundmark had 17 points (5 goals, 12 assists) in 67 games for the Manitoba Moose last season.
Lundmark is an interesting prospect who doesn’t earn a lot of headlines but has certainly maintained organizational interest in his progress as we wrote at the end of the 2023-24 season about the steady blueliner:
“Certain prospects tends to fly under the radar for fans because they aren’t the flashiest or they don’t put up huge points and that seems to be the case with Jets 2019 2nd rounder Simon Lundmark who just completed his third season in Manitoba with the Moose. His play and demeanor conjure up a Dylan DeMelo type of Dman.
In early December I had spoken to him about adding a bit more physicality to his game and he demonstrated that with this check in a game against the Icehogs. Following that game Moose assistant coach Eric Dubois spoke about his ability to win 50-50 battles.”
