Winnipeg Jets sign RFA Gabriel Vilardi to a six-year contract

The Jets got one of their top pieces inked to a new deal today as Gabriel Vilardi has signed a new contract with Winnipeg as per the team. It’s a six-year deal with a 7.5 million AAV. Getting it done now was important as it allows the two sides to avoid arbitration.

He is coming off his most productive season as a pro which coincided with the opportunity to play on the top line in Winnipeg with plenty of time on the top power play unit. He had 27 goals 34 assists for 61 points in 71 games. Each one of those was the highest he’d ever achieved in the NHL.

His last deal with the Jets was a two-year contract which had a $3,437,500 cap hit.
