The Moose had signed Evan Cormier to a deal previously and reiterated the terms of that deal in July which are documented here. Some background on the netminder from Ontario:
Evan Cormier was a Devils 4th rounder from 2016 who had an excellent season in the ECHL for the Growlers (17-7-2) and was equally good for the Moose (8-3-3). Had he not been hurt before playoffs he could have very easily gotten a start or two.
The Jets just announced that they have signed him to a one-year, two-way contract. As per Chris Johnston of TSN he has been placed on waivers.
He has spent the entirety of the 2022-23 season with the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL.
Last year the Jets signed Phillippe Desrosiers to a similar deal that they signed with Evan Cormier. The year before last it was Cole Kehler. Meaning it is nothing out of the ordinary for Winnipeg to sign a goalie ahead of deadline.
Might the Winnipeg product be set to play for his hometown team?
