Winnipeg Jets sign Adam Lowry to a five-year contract extension

Jets captain Adam Lowry was in the final year of his contract with Winnipeg but he and the team avoided him becoming a UFA at season’s end by signing a new five-year contract extension.

He had been recovering from offseason hip surgery before returning to the lineup for the first time on November 4th. He’s played seven games and scored his first of the season in their last game against Columbus.

We asked him about his contract status in mid September but he didn’t have an update to provide at that time. About a month later Darren Dreger of TSN reported that preliminary contract talks were underway.

First on the news of the extension today was Murat Ates of The Athletic Winnipeg.

It’s a 5 million AAV.
