Winnipeg Jets Shawn Matthias requires surgery; Done for season

It has been a frustrating season for Jets winger Shawn Matthias.  He has played in just 45 games for the Jets this year scoring eight goals with four assists and that will be it for the 2016-17 campaign as head coach Paul Maurice announced today following practice that Matthias had a pre-existing labral tear which he had been trying to deal with but which will require surgery.

When asked the timeline on Matthias coach Maurice indicated that “its a full on rehab, we are talking about months.”  Follow up was if Matthias was done for the season and the coach said “correct”.
