Ben Chiarot was missing from the Jets bench in the 3rd period of Sunday’s game against the Wild and there is some thought that this is the reason the Jets have recalled Nelson Nogier from the Moose on an emergency basis.
Nogier’s play of late has improved and he has definitely been more noticeable. His biggest asset has been using his speed to move the puck out of the Moose end.
Update: According to Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun it is Mark Stuart who is not on the ice for the Jets at practice today, while Ben Chiarot is skating. Stuart played the last 2:07 of the 3rd period for the Jets but did take a big slap shot to the back of the leg during the game. We shall have to wait and hear what coach Maurice has to say following skate.
Update II: There isn’t much clarity after coach Maurice’s scrum this afternoon as a number of players on the backend sound like they could have a tweak or two and he won’t have anything further until tomorrow.
Jets Release:
The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club, in conjunction with its AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, announced today they have recalled defenceman Nelson Nogier from the Moose on an emergency basis.
Nogier, 20, has 13 points (2g, 11a) in 57 games as a rookie with the Moose this season. He played four-plus seasons in the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades and Red Deer Rebels from 2011-2017, tallying 50 points (8g, 42a) in 235 career games. The WHL’s Scholastic Player of the Year in 2014, Nogier played in the 2013 Memorial Cup with Saskatoon and 2016 Memorial Cup with Red Deer. He also suited up for Team West at the 2013 U-17 World Hockey Challenge and played in the 2012 Telus Cup, Canada’s national midget championship, as a member of the Saskatoon Contacts.
A native of Saskatoon, Sask., Nogier was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round (101st overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
