Winnipeg Jets recall Mikhail Berdin from Moose on emergency basis; reassign Kristian Vesalainen

Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck didn’t skate on Monday as he and his wife are either expecting or have just had their first child. His status wasn’t certain ahead of tonight’s game against the Stars.

This morning Jets PR tweeted out:

The #NHLJets have recalled G – Mikhail Berdin from the Manitoba Moose (AHL) on an emergency basis and reassigned F – Kristian Vesalainen to the Manitoba Moose (AHL).

Which would seem to suggest that he will not be which means the team had to recall goalie Mikhail Berdin to backup Eric Comrie.

The Vesalainen move isn’t a surprise given that he is waiver exempt and was skating with three others on the 4th line, none of whom are also waiver exempt.
