Winnipeg Jets recall Elias Salomonsson from the Manitoba Moose

The Jets lost Neal Pionk on Sunday’s game in the 1st period to a lower-body injury. The team was off on Monday so we didn’t get an update yesterday although we did see Moose head coach Mark Morrison split up his D pairs which was seen as a precautionary move in case Winnipeg needed to recall a defenceman before their five-game road trip out east.

Sure enough this morning the team has announced that they have recalled 2022 2nd rounder Elias Salomonsson for the first time up to the NHL.

He hasn’t been quite as offensively productive this season as he was the previous season but that’s largely due to the fact that he was on the power play during the 2024-25 campaign and this year is not.

But his game defensively is strong once again. Think of him as a right-shot Dylan Samberg.
