Winnipeg Jets recall Dominic Toninato from the Moose

The Jets lost Gabriel Vilardi in the 1st period of the game against the Kings on Tuesday when he and Blake Lizotte fell awkwardly along the boards and while he will not require surgery for his sprained MCL he will be out of the lineup for approximately 4-6 weeks.

Thankfully for the Jets the Moose are right down the hall as they opened their season this past weekend against the Calgary Wranglers (earned a split) and are getting set to host the Iowa Wild this weekend starting tonight at 7 PM.

However they will be doing it without Dominic Toninato who will be heading back up to the NHL for the foreseeable future.

Toninato is fresh off being named an alternate captain by Manitoba but this move doesn’t come as much of a surprise given the organization has a lot of trust in the veteran forward.

The Minnesotan was at morning skate for the Moose today at hockey for all centre. Actually Axel Jonsson-Fjällby left skate a bit early so I thought it might be him getting the recall but it turns out they went with Toninato.
