Winnipeg Jets recall David Gustafsson from the Manitoba Moose

The Jets have recalled 2018 2nd rounder David Gustafsson from the Moose. The talented centre is currently leading the AHL club with seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 23 games. This was expected to happen on Monday but the AHL club was dealing with a covid situation.

He has become a leader on the Moose and was named an alternate captain at the beginning of the month. He has certainly earned the trust of the staff which was best summed up by Moose head coach Mark Morrison after Saturday night’s game when asked about the reliability of his 21 year old centre:

“Gus go. And he gets it done.”

Here is what his teammate Jeff Malott said after practice on Tuesday about the Swedish centre:

He is as solid as they come 5 on 5 and he will definitely be an asset for the penalty kill if given that opportunity.
