Winnipeg Jets reassign prospect Chaz Lucius to Portland of WHL after World Juniors

Team USA had a strong World Juniors Tournament in Halifax as they were eliminated by their arch-rivals Canada in the semifinals and then went on to win Bromze against Sweden in the bronze medal game. Jets 2021 1st rounder Chaz Lucius had a solid tournament including a hat trick in the bronze medal game.

Today the Jets announced that they have assigned Lucius to the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL who own his junior rights. Portland is the second place team in the Western Conference who were coincidentally playing the Ice in Winnipeg this weekend.

In 12 games for Manitoba he had two goals and three assists as he adjusted to playing as a pro for the first time in his young career.

With Portland he will have a chance to gain a lot of confidence for when he re-joins the Moose whenever his WHL season concludes and then potentially use that as a springboard for a big summer of training.
