Updated: Listen to GM Kevin Cheveldayoff speak about Mark Scheifele’s reassignment.
From the Winnipeg Jets release:
The Winnipeg Jets today announced they have reassigned forward Mark Scheifele to the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League. Scheifele, 19, played in four games with the Jets this season bringing his NHL total to 11 games. He will return to Barrie where he has played in 30 games this season with the Colts. In that span, the Kitchener, ON native has earned 49 points (22G, 27A), 13 penalty minutes and a plus-19 rating. Despite playing his last game with the Colts on Jan. 10/13, Scheifele still remains fifth on the team in scoring and was riding a three-game points streak (1G, 4A) before coming to Winnipeg. He was the first-ever selection by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, seventh overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
