We were asked by Guy Flaming who is the co-host of The Pipeline Show on TSN 1260 Edmonton last night via twitter if we thought 2014 1st round pick (9th overall) of the Jets Nikolaj Ehlers could be inserted in the lineup like Sam Bennett was for the Calgary Flames. My thoughts are it is highly unlikely simply because he hasn’t had any opportunity to practice with the team and learn the Jets system.
My guess is that the Jets are not planning on getting him into any playoff games, at least in the near future. But it won’t hurt to have their top draft pick from 2014 get around the guys and the playoff atmosphere here in Winnipeg.
Update: Coach Maurice confirmed in his presser today that Nik Ehlers will be coming to Winnipeg to take part in the experience of NHL playoff hockey and will not be playing in the game this evening.
