Winnipeg Jets prospect Kieron Walton involved in OHL trade between Sudbury and Peterborough

The Jets looked like they got an absolute steal in the 6th round of the 2024 NHL Draft when they selected 6’6 forward Kieron Walton who had completed his first full season in the OHL with Sudbury.

In his first year as a prospect he had a monster 92 points (38G 54A) in 66 games for the Wolves finishing 9th in the league for points. Walton jumped from 0.66 pts/g in his first year in the “O” to 1.39 in his first year as a drafted player. He also played four games for the Moose after his OHL season concluded where he picked up his first pro point.

Big question was gonna be what would he do in year number three in Sudbury?

To date he is smashing his numbers from last season producing at 1.58 pts/g. He is second in the league for points in the OHL with 52 (24G 28A) in 33 games, sitting third in goals and top spot for most shots in the league. And he was doing it on a weaker Sudbury team.

But today that changed as he was dealt to Peterborough.

It will be a big chance for him to continue to grow his game and compete for an OHL Championship.
