Jets 2021 1st rounder Chaz Lucius was having himself a nice run since being assigned to junior hockey after getting his pro career underway with the Moose of the AHL.
Unfortunately for the prospect his season is over as Winnipeg announced he required shoulder surgery after suffering an injury with Portland of the WHL. In six games with the Winterhawks he had five goals and 10 assists and was named WHL Player of the Week.
He also had his first taste of pro action with Manitoba scoring his first and second pro goals along with three assists in 12 AHL games. He did deal with an injury already this season suffered with the Moose which cut down his time with the club.
Of course the highlight of the 2022-23 season was with Team USA scoring the OT winner back in December, which was his third goal of the bronze medal game, to win the medal for his country at the World Juniors.
Tough news for the Minnesota product who dealt with injury both during his draft eligible year as well as his first year in college.
