While fans are still basking in the success of a fun filled Heritage Classic weekend, the Jets are dealing with the reality of a 3-0 loss yesterday to the Oilers that saw them move to 2-3-0 on the season. They were back on the ice at the IcePlex today for a practice before they left for Dallas.
Post-skate player audio:
Blake Wheeler: Getting back to routine. Losing game, but still relishing a big weekend for Winnipeg. Importance of the upcoming games.
Tyler Myers: Improving the team’s record in the division. Three of next nine are against Stars, like the mini-playoff feel of that? Limiting errors that lead to goals.
Post-skate coach audio:
Paul Maurice: How was it different following that loss after you factor in the entire weekend? Good to get your club back into it with three Central division games? A look ahead to this week’s games. Importance to see how this team responds this week? How does he approach a marathon stretch like the Jets have upcoming? Good opportunity for the team to gel? Contemplating moves or is it too small a sample size? AHL call ups? Does he worry about a Heritage Classic hangover? Working on the power play, is it too soon to panic? No exact science to the PP? Goals coming in bunches against, is that a function of youth?
He's closing in on his first game since January 13th.
