The Jets split the two games they played at home including a 6-5 win last night over division rival Chicago.  Today they practice at the IcePlex before heading to New Jersey to kick off a three game road trip.

Pre-practice news:

The Moose announced that they have signed Jets 2014 3rd rounder (69th overall) Jack Glover to a PTO.   Glover is a right shooting D man who had spent four seasons playing Big 10 hockey for U. of Minnesota from 2014-15 until last season. He joined the Icemen of the ECHL for eight games last season and 14 this year.

Last season he played 34 games for the Gophers after being limited to just 13 games the season prior after having both shoulders operated on.

Practice Notes:

According to Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun it is an optional practice today.  He indicated that Andrew Copp is back in a normal uniform while Dmitry Kulikov is wearing a non-contract jersey.  Kulikov has been out of the lineup since being injured three weeks ago in a game against the Avalanche.  First update was supposed to be about a month from when the injury occurred (which would be December 10th) so perhaps the veteran is ahead of schedule.  We will likely know more about his status when the team returns next Thursday from the road trip.

Coach Maurice:  Update on the health of the hockey club.  If Morrow doesn’t make the trip will they recall a player from the Moose?  Will they keep Appleton around for the trip?  Will he consider Appleton for a game in New Jersey?  His thoughts on Morrissey’s game from last night?  On the number of goals against.  When the 4th line gives up two quick goals how important is it to get them back out there?  Did Appleton put too much pressure on himself in training camp?  On Cam Schilling getting into last night’s game.  On the good perspective that Schilling has and how the young players can learn from that.  Is the bump that Hellebuyck hit of late part of his evolution?  Will he split the goalie starts this week?  On the idea of a reset for Hellebuyck?

Health news:

Laundry list of injuries which coach Maurice addressed today during his availability “Joe Morrow, we’ll find out a little bit more today, I don’t have much on him.  Andrew Copp is full contact here today so if he gets through that and feels good he’s a player for us.  Buff won’t make the trip.”  When asked if Joe Morrow will make the trip he indicated “depends on what we find today” and asked if this meant the Jets may need to recall a D man from the Moose the Jets bench boss added “it is possible ya.  As a seventh.”

Up next:

The Jets fly to New Jersey where they will face the Devils on Saturday night.
