The Jets were off yesterday but returned to the ice today as they prepare to face the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals tomorrow night in game three of four of this current home stand. Washington has lost their past two games and will have to take on a tough Minnesota Wild team tonight in St. Paul before they make their way to Winnipeg.
Practice notes:
Only player not at practice this morning is Dustin Byfuglien according to Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun who indicates that everyone else is present and accounted for at today’s skate with the only change being Sami Niku in Byfuglien’s spot. Mitchell Clinton of Jets TV indicated that “Mathieu Perreault leaves practice after a collision in the neutral zone. Looked like a lower-body issue. Walked to the dressing room with a bit of a limp.”.

Coach Maurice: How would he describe the play of the Jets 4th line? What has the 4th line done well to ensure they’ve stayed sharp? How encouraged is he by the team’s 5 on 5 play? Update on Perreault? Status of Byfuglien? Has the Capitals game changed much under a new coach? On how Tom Wilson changes the Caps lineup. Is the Stanley Cup hangover a real thing? Has he had to talk to Brendan Lemieux about adjusting his game?

Health update:
Jets coach Paul Maurice said Mathieu Perreault (who left practice after a collision) is “expected to play tomorrow.”. When asked whether Byfuglien is playing tomorrow the bench boss indicated “Yup. Playing tomorrow.”
Moose tracks:
Dennis Everberg has been placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract by the Jets. He played 70 NHL games with the Avs between 2014-2016. Spent past two seasons (SweHL & KHL) overseas. Just couldn’t seem to get going with Moose (1A in 11 games).
