The Jets are back on the ice after a Sunday off.  They’ve gone 2-0-1 to start this ten game home stand and are set to face the Coyotes (Tuesday) and Blues (Friday) this week.

All eyes will be on the ice this morning to see the status of recently injured players (Lowry, Tanev, Hendricks) and perhaps Steve Mason and Shawn Matthias as well.  No recalls from the Manitoba Moose have been made as of yet.

Practice Notes:

Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun indicated that Mark Scheifele has shed his non-contact uniform.  Also indicated no Matt Hendricks, Adam Lowry or Brandon Tanev this morning.  We will have to wait to hear from coach Maurice following skate for updates.

Lines below as per Ken and he added that Josh Morrissey took a deflected puck to the face and had to leave practice to get looked at but subsequently returned to the ice.

Health update:

Coach Maurice started with Mark Scheifele who was cleared for contact today and said “if he has two more days like that he’ll play against St. Louis.”.  Both Brandon Tanev and Matt Hendricks left the last game against the Avalanche and coach Maurice indicated that Tanev is “week-to-week” and they are hoping Hendricks “is not long term”.  Coach added that he expects Matt Hendricks back first and then Adam Lowry.   Last injured forward is Shawn Matthias who is not yet skating on his own “he’s getting better…once he gets back on the ice and it won’t be too long before that, he’ll have a fairly quick turnaround from getting on the ice to playing.”.

The Jets announced that they have placed Adam Lowry on injured reserve retroactive to February 1st.

Recall:

The Jets announced they have recalled forwards Nic Petan and Brendan Lemieux from the Manitoba Moose.  In 39 games with the Moose Petan has 12 goals and 29 assists for 41 points in 39 games.  Lemieux has 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in 30 games.

Nic Petan is on a hot streak putting up three goals and seven assists in his last six games for the Moose. Overall his 41 points puts him second to Mason Appleton in team scoring. When Brendan Lemieux scored his 12th goal in his 30th game (last game) it matched his goals total from the previous season in less than half the number of games. In 2016-17 he got 12 in 61 games.

Looking at the Jets possible lineup tomorrow, 7 of the 12 forwards will be guys who spent some time with the Moose including Connor (56), Copp (8), Armia (18), Dano (6), Petan (95), Lemieux (96) & Roslovic (97).

Coach Maurice:  Health updates.  What will they do with the lineup?  Poolman as a forward.  Update on Josh Morrissey.  Thoughts on the Coyotes.  Update on Shawn Matthias.  More on Hendricks/Lowry.  Location of injuries.  Is Matthias skating?  Special teams play.  How do the special teams survive missing Tanev/Lowry/Hendricks?  On when Mark Scheifele comes back where he plays.  Would he move Roslovic to centre?
