The Jets hit the ice for another day of practice on the first official day of the playoffs with games finally getting underway to kick off the 2023-24 post-season. Obviously Winnipeg won’t be in action until tomorrow but the excitement in this province is palpable.

The big question, and really the only real one, was who would be replacing Morgan Barron on the 4th line as head coach Rick Bowness announced on Friday that the forward would miss game 1.

Skate news:

As per the eagle eyes of Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press the player replacing Barron is David Gustafsson, which was the player we were expecting to draw back in. Wieber provides the lines and D pairs from hockey for all centre.

Lines & D pairs:

Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi
Ehlers-Monahan-Toffoli
Niederrieter-Lowry-Appleton
Gustafsson-Namestnikov-Iafallo
Perfetti, Kupari

Morrissey-DeMelo
Dillon-Pionk
Stanley-Samberg
Schmidt-Miller

Hellebuyck
Brossoit

Media:

To follow.

Avalanche news:

Some significant injury news from Colorado as the team announced that Jonathan Drouin is out for the first round vs Winnipeg with a lower-body injury. That’s a big blow to the Avs as he had 19 goals and 37 assists for 56 points in 79 games during the season.

Up next:

The Jets will presumably hit the ice for morning skate at 9:30 AM CDT as they get set to kick off game one of their first round series with the Avs. Start your Sunday with all the latest Jets and Moose news in the AM Papers on illegalcurve.com which are available starting at 7 AM CST, check back for the pre-game report, stick with us throughout the day for updates and then join us before the game on the Illegal Curve Pre-Game Show which you can watch live at CityPlace (333 St. Mary’s) and then after the final buzzer on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show.
