Winnipeg Jets placed David Gustafsson on IR

Jets forward David Gustaffsson wasn’t on the ice for morning skate in Buffalo on Thursday. When head coach Rick Bowness was asked for a status update he indicated that he was dealing with an “upper-body injury” that wasn’t viewed as anything too serious.

He just got back into the Winnipeg lineup after being a healthy scratch and contributed an assist in the loss to the Red Wings in Detroit on Tuesday. In 38 games for the Jets he is still looking for his first goal of the season and has five assists.

In order to activate Saku Maenalanen from IR to the 23-man roster to play in the game the team needed to make a corresponding move and they did so before the game adding Gustafsson to IR retroactive to January 10th. That means he’s out at least a week.
