Winnipeg Jets place Riley Nash on waivers

Riley Nash was signed in the offseason to be a steady 4th line centre presence for the Jets while contributing to the penalty kill. Instead he has played 15 games without any points and has found himself a healthy scratch for a number of games. In face his last game came November 24th against the Blue Jackets and he has been a healthy scratch the last five games.

Today he has been placed on waivers according to Elliotte Friedman.

With the news regarding Pionk and the potential for a suspension this could mean that the Jets are making room to recall a defenceman from the Moose. If I had to guess it would be either 2017 3rd rounder Johnny Kovacevic or 2019 1st rounder Ville Heinola.  Kovacevic is a right shot would make sense if they were planning on getting him his first NHL game.  Alternatively they could simply use Nathan Beaulieu on his off side.
