When Nikolaj Ehlers slammed his stick down on the ice in Vegas on Friday night in frustration because he was clearly feeling some pain on the play it seemed likely that the prognosis wasn’t going to be good for the dynamic winger who was on pace to hit career highs in goals, assists and points. If you missed the play here it was:
The day after the game in Dallas on Saturday following an optional practice head coach Scott Arniel wasn’t prepared to rule Ehlers out of the afternoon contest on Sunday although the team ultimately chose to have him skip the final game of the six-game road trip.
The team was off on Monday and today before they hit the ice for morning skate we learned from Team PR that they placed Ehlers on IR and have recalled Brad Lambert from the Moose.
Will update once we get update from head coach Scott Arniel.
Update:
Arniel said after morning skate that Ehlers is expected to miss 7-10 days. Said he’s hopeful it’s less than that and they’ll monitor him everyday.
Coming out of retirement at 70 to take control of another bench.
