Winnipeg Jets place Mason Appleton on injured reserve

Just after the Jets win against the Predators on Saturday night we learned from head coach Scott Arniel that winger Mason Appleton would be out “week-to-week”.

In his media availability Scott Arniel had said the injury occurred “a couple of games ago, played last game and it got a little bit worse. He’s week-to-week now.”

Looking back at the second last game he played it would make it seem like it was the one against the Leafs when he got hit hard by Simon Benoit early in the 2nd period. About the only other thing he did after that was take a double-minor. During the play on the broadcast play-by-play voice Dan Robertson said “Appleton a little slow to get up” after the above hit.

Regardless of how/when it occurred the Jets will be without 22 for some time and today the team announced he had been placed on IR retroactive to December 28th.
