Winnipeg Jets place Jaret Anderson-Dolan on waivers as they move towards roster compliance

Jets made one waiver move today according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet putting forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan on waivers for purposes of assignment to the Moose. This comes as somewhat of a surprise as it was expected the one move they’d make today would be to put a netminder on waivers.

Why today you ask? According to the folks at PuckPedia:

“In order to send a player that requires waivers down prior to tomorrow’s 5pm opening roster submission, they must be on waivers today.”

My expectation was they’d try to send either Eric Comrie or Kappo Kahkonen via waivers down to the AHL. For now it appears that they will be keeping three goalies.

This means Winnipeg is down to 28 on the roster (but Heinola and Stanley will be on IR) so they really just have three more moves to make. My previous expectation when projecting the 23-man roster was that they would send Brad Lambert, Nikita Chibrikov and Elias Salomonsson down as none of the three have to clear waivers.

It’s also possible they send down a goalie and retain Lambert up with the big club.
