Back in 2019 the Jets took big Finnish centre Henri Nikkanen in the fourth round of the NHL Draft. It was actually a drop as he had been projected as a potential first rounder but he got injured during his draft year and fell to Winnipeg in the fourth. He would eventually come to North America after playing in Liiga for another couple of seasons to pursue his NHL dreams.

He spent two full seasons with the Moose in the AHL including last year which started off horribly slow but he eventually got things back on track including this shootout game-winning goal.
However this season he’s played just 13 games of 21 the team has played and lately has been a healthy scratch. In those 13 games he’s got one goal and three assists.
The Jets announced today he’s been placed on unconditional waivers for purposes of contract termination.
He's closing in on his first game since January 13th.
The 2024 2nd rounder is in Winnipeg where he'll spend the rest of the season…
