Winnipeg Jets Nino Niederreiter to play for Team Switzerland at World Championship

For the second straight Jets offseason winger Nino Niederreiter will be heading to the World Championship where he will play for Team Switzerland it was revealed by Swiss Hockey on Monday. This spring he’ll be heading to Czechia from May 10th to the 26th.

The versatile forward was acquired by Winnipeg from Nashville during the 2022-23 season at the trade deadline. He fit in quite well during the 22 games he played with the Jets and let it be known this past season that he was open to settling down in Manitoba. On December 4th, 2023 it was announced that he had signed a three-year extension.

Of course as much as he loves playing for his country he and the rest of the Jets will not want him to make it three years in a row in 2024-25 over in Denmark and Sweden as they’ll likely hope to have learned from this season and be going on an extended Stanley Cup playoff run instead.
