It was a wild (no pun intended) game last night between the Jets and Wild as the two rivals had plenty of shenanigans take place in the game while the officials basically allowed the inmates to run the asylum.
There were a number of missed calls throughout the course of the game (especially the one by Winnipegger Ryan Reaves which could have been called charging/boarding on Dylan DeMelo) but there were two that merited a reaction from NHL Player Safety.
1) The Neal Pionk cross-check at the end of the 3rd period on Marcus Johansson.
Player Safety gave Pionk a fine of $5,000 which was the maximum allowable under the CBA.
2) Ryan Hartman’s pick play on Nikolaj Ehlers.
Player Safety has given Hartman a hearing today for what they term “Interference against Winnipeg’s Nikolaj Ehlers”.
Stay tuned to find out what happens with Hartman.
So much for Friendly Manitoba and Minnesota Nice. The rivalry is back.
