Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Mar 2, 2026

Note: All three road games the Jets played in to start the post-Olympic portion of the schedule saw them go to extra time in each contest but unlike the first one the last two, including yesterday in San Jose have ended with an OT loss. While earlier in the season folks were lamenting this team’s inability to get games into extra time to at least garner a point, at this point they can no longer afford to be missing out on points if they want to be a playoff squad in April. With the trade deadline on Friday and with just three games to go Winnipeg sits nine points back of the second and final wild card spot. Gonna be an interesting week. Today, the team is scheduled to hold an optional practice at 12 noon. Check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose looked like they had rebounded from a tough loss on Saturday and were posed to conclude their three-game road trip with a re-match victory over the Admirals. However, a two goal lead with 8:34 left in the 3rd was not enough as Milwaukee scored twice in 1:15 tied the game for the home team and sent it to overtime. In the extra frame they completed the comeback to win 4-3 in OT. A tough loss for Manitoba who had controlled big stretches of this game but were unable to lock it down late in the 3rd. The team will travel home as they prepare for a pair of games this upcoming weekend.

Note III: Jets prospect Kevin He (2024 4th) had an assist in a loss yesterday by his Flint club. He’s up to 67 points (34G 33A) in 52 games.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: ‘That was embarassing;’ Arniel on Jets OT loss in San Jose. Would be hard pressed to call it anything other than that.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets bitten by the OT bug, lose 2-1 to the Sharks. The Jets lack of foot speed is always most evident during 3 on 3.
