Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Mar 16, 2026

Note: The Jets needed four points this weekend and thanks to Connor Hellebuyck on Saturday they got two when they defeated the Avs and then on Sunday backstopped by Eric Comrie they got the other two with a 3-2 win over the Blues. After playing three games in four days they are off today. They will be back on the ice tomorrow where they conclude the eight-game homestand against the Preds.

Note II: The Moose concluded their four-game road trip yesterday in Calgary. Like the parent club, the farm team needed a big performance from their goalie and they got just that as Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic was excellent in the hockey game making 44 saves on 46 shots as he led his team to a 4-2 victory.

Note III: A pair of Jets prospects in the OHL got on the scoresheet on Sunday. Kieron Walton (2024 6th) matched his career high in goals with his 38th of the season. Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) picked up his 19th goal of the season as he takes the feed from Dimian Zhilkin, the younger brother of Winnipeg prospect Danny as they helped Saginaw pick up a win. Also, I forgot to put the link in yesterday’s AM papers to Owen Martin’s (2025 3rd) 1G 3A performance for Spokane.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Did you score?’: Fleury nets first Jets goal in a 3-1 win. It’s somewhat hard to believe that he didn’t have a goal prior to the game with this Jets team.

Winnipeg Sun: Eric Comrie cool and calm as Jets tune out the Blues. He has been excellent for this team in his last five starts (all wins).

Winnipeg Free Press: Cagey backup earns big win. (Paywall). Wieber gives you his assessment of the game.

NHL.com: Fleury has goal, assist, Jets hang on to end Blues’ 7-game point streak. Darrin provides insight from both rooms.
