Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Feb 6, 2026

Note: The Jets are on Olympic break right now. There was some news as it pertains to the NHL club of Winnipeg as we learned on Thursday that Nino Niederreiter will be the flag bearer for Switzerland at the opening ceremony.

Note II: The Moose are in Texas where they will face off against the red-hot Stars this evening. As expected the Jets returned a pair of defenceman Elias Salomonsson and Isaak Phillips to the AHL club of Manitoba which will allow them to play six games during the Olympic break. Also worth noting that Kevin Conley is moving on to pursue opportunities in Europe (both sides agreed to a mutually agreed-upon termination of his AHL deal). Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.

Note III: Jets prospect Kieron Walton (2024 6th) picked up two more goals last night for Peterborough including the GWG in OT. He’s got 66 points (32G 34A) in 44 games.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Worst I’ve seen’: Jets’ Arniel on Wednesday turnout of Habs fans. The bench boss wasn’t pleased to see a sea of red in the stands.

Winnipeg Sun: Winnipeg’s Jarvis edges Jets’ Scheifele for Team Canada spot. We were just discussing on the IC Show how it was surprising people weren’t talking about Jarvis as an injury replacement and then boom he’s in.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets rookie d-man Elias Salomonsson cashing in on his chance. Sometimes all a guy needs is that one opportunity to prove that they belong.

Working hard on a daily basis to provide the latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news for our readers and listeners. I also appear on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show every Saturday on our YouTube channel as well as the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show after every single Jets game. And I occasionally jump in the play-by-play booth at Canada Life to provide colour analysis during Manitoba Moose games.
